Morabito

The word “legendary” rolls off the tongue easily and often these days, but in the world of music and nightlife that story is usually told in the past tense. Unless the legend happens to be Susan Morabito. Few names have dominated the dance scene over the course of three decades and remain as relevant, current and celebrated as Morabito.

A new generation is now discovering and raving about the impeccable taste and rare ability to create a cohesive and seamless experience on the dance floor that sets Morabito apart and that earned her the appreciation and respect of dancers and peers alike. Through a new focus on music production and remixing she will take her meticulous standards and craft well into the future and will ensure that the legend continues.

As one of the original influences and inspirations for Masterbeat itself, it’s a dream come true to welcome Morabito back to our home in Los Angeles for our Morning Party at The Mayan.

The Mayan

Originally opened in 1927 during the revival theater era of the late 1920’s in downtown Los Angeles, the Mayan is an ornate classic theater featuring pre-Columbian patterns and sculptures throughout it’s ornate facade, lobby and original chandelier in the main auditorium based on the Aztec calendar stone.

Now a Historic Cultural Monument, the Mayan Theater was transformed into a nightclub in 1990 and is widely regarded as LA’s best mega-club, having preserved it’s Mayan theater design but successfully morphing itself into a venue for clubbing.

The theater has been used as a location in many famous TV shows and movies, including Save the Tiger, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, A Night at the Roxbury and The Bodyguard.

Masterbeat has been ringing in the New Year at The Mayan since 2003 and we are proud to call the venue our exclusive home in Los Angeles.
